The original soundtrack of the movie directed by Antonio Pietrangeli in 1960. Adua e le compagne is the story of a group of ex-prostitutes who decide to change lifestyle by opening a restaurant. The girls have to face a cruel destiny, however, and they are inexorably pushed back to their past life. Piero Piccioni wrote and conducted an American jazz score, with a sad and romantic leitmotiv played by the string and rhythm section for the charactter of Adua,a strong and rebellious woman with a fragile soul.
