Cinevox Record is a cult record label which owns a large catalogue including works by the main contemporary composers.
Thanks to its wide production of soundtracks, it wrote important pages in film music history.
Cinevox Record catalogue is a precious source of inspiration for the most talented directors and for the most innovative artists working in rock, hip hop and dance music.
Cinevox was created in 1960 by Cesare Andrea Bixio, founder of Bixio Publishing Group, acknowledged composer and author of the music of the first italian talking movie.
Within its history, Cinevox collaborated with great authors like Ennio Morricone,Piero Piccioni, Piero Umiliani, Armando Trovajoli, Giorgio Gaslini,Nino Rota, Riz Ortolani, Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera , Nicola Piovani,Keith Emerson, Goblin , Pino Donaggio, Andrea Guerra and many more. These artists contributed to create an important catalogue ranging amongst the genres: from beat to lounge, from jazz to progressive rock.
Many Cinevox productions are today considered to be milestones in music history.
During the years, Cinevox scores accompanied several film genres: auteur movies like Love Circle by Giuseppe Patroni Griffi and Investigation of a Citizen Above Suspicion by Elio Petri, but also comedies, like cult movies My friends and The marquis of Grillo by Mario Monicelli, Fun is beautiful and Bianco Rosso e Verdone by Carlo Verdone and White collar blues by Luciano Salce.
Many soundtracks were produced by Cinevox for the italian Western movies, like Duck, you sucker! by Sergio Leone.
Cinevox name as a strong bond with horror cinema and thriller movies. The label produced the scores for the works by masters of terror like Mario Bava, Lucio Fulci and Dario Argento. It is important to remember the contribution to this genre which was given by the Goblin, the legendary rock band who composed the soundtracks of many films by Dario Argento, like Suspiria, Phenomena and one of Cinevox greatest hits, Deep Red, famous for its immortal theme.
Today, Cinevox still works in the field of soundtracks, especially focusing on tv series scores.
